Offered is this fine specimen of the wartime issue Soviet Ssh-40 helmet.  Honest, wartime examples of this model have gotten to be extremely difficult to locate.  This example is in nice condition and remains in the full wartime configuration with no postwar rework. The exterior retains 85%+ of the original factory green paint. There are typical scuffs and old, dark patina rust spots.  There are no dents or damage to the shell.  The interior is complete with all three synthetic leather pads, one has some minor damage.  The drawstring has been replaced at some point with jute twine.  The size 1 shell is mark and dated L-44 for 1944 production at the LMZ facility.  The helmet is finished off with the original chinstrap in natural cotton web as seen from about 1943 until the war’s end.  This is a super Ssh-40 in a condition that warrants strong consideration.  A rare helmet in an uncommon condition.
