Offered is this very interesting Heer field cap.  This cap was originally made as the short lived M42 field cap.  It has been converted to a visored Bergmuetze style cap.  The original M42 portion of this cap would have been interesting enough, as the top of the cap is cut from a different shade of wool than the sides and flaps.  The added visor is yet another shade of field grey.   The hand sewn eagle and machine sewn rosette appear to be original to the cap.  There is a metal Edelweiss insignia to the side which is missing the flower center.  We actually have this piece, which came with the cap and will be included with it.  The interior is in good condition, and exhibits soiling and wear as one would expect.  This is a hard worn cap, with knap wear to the exterior and a few small holes.  With that, this cap has a lot of character.
