For the record the “Type” designation is Frontovik Militaria nomenclature. We purchased a small lot of these and have sorted them in to “Type” based on construction.
This shovel cover represents typical wartime expedience and economy. Just barely enough to hold the shovel on the equipment belt. Covers are in unissued condition from military stocks in the former USSR. This variation has a small piece of synthetic leather to reinforce the button hole. We have a few, all are 1941 dated.
