A nice 1943 made, Ssh-40 helmet from LMZ. This helmet remains in the original wartime, factory configuration. It is a very interesting example, and I would dated it to the early part of 1943. It has the classic “white” chinstrap that most LMZ made Ssh-40 have, but it retains the brighter green as was applied to the prior Ssh-39 production, and not the more olive color that later, wartime Ssh-40 began receiving about this time. The shell is undamaged and retains about 90% of the paint. The concentric arcs on the front right (when worn) are tooling marks. These are not uncommon on these helmets. Particularly on size 1 shells, which this happens to be. The interior contains all three liner pads, intact, with only minor damage. The drawstring is original. The chinstrap is the correct natural white web, with no metal tip, as is standard for post 1942 made helmets. Mark with the typical LMZ size and date stamp as would be expected. This helmet is also marked (МПВО) for local air defense.
