Just acquired this M40 for a partial trade/purchase that has fallen through before the helmet ever arrived to me. Such is life… Fortunately for you, it is generally available. That is if Sean or I don’t decide to keep it.
An untouched, unmolested Heer single decal M40. This helmet is a one looker… Gorgeous paint wear and a nice dark brown patina to the exposed metal from a slow gradual weathering. Helmet is and ET64 shell and size 56 liner. The liner is a bit dry and there is one finger pull through. Never touched, removed, or conditioned however. There is also a nice build up of dirt and dust between the liner band and shell, which is always a good and desirable sign. Split pins also suggest that the helmet has never had a liner change. Chinstrap is complete and likely original to this helmet. It is maker marked and 1940 dated. The Shell is named to Bauer in the rear skirt interior. There is also a hand annotation to the liner leather which could be a prior owner or possibly these letters were for someone or something else of significance to Herr Bauer.
A very nice helmet… If you prefer combat worn helmets, this one is for you.
